about

Dedicated to the writers and thinkers Jay Griffiths, Dan Gretton, Derrick Jensen, who help us to confront our complicity in how the world has been and continues to be shaped. With so many social, economic and environmental crises caused by a fundamentally uncaring and destructive 'myth of human supremacy' (Jenson) it's important to identify these ideas and say: I do not consent.

lyrics

Oh so wrong so very very wrong
Closed to the world and its ongoing song
Blind to the eyes of other living things
Deaf to the voice and call of the Wild
All for ideas like lights in the distance
Mind-made mirages setting up tension
Pretentious hubristic downright arrogant
Imagine you are king, take what you want

Surrounded by life they saw only a void
Set out to explore but they merely destroyed
Spread their own egoistic horror
Poisoning today, polluting tomorrow

All for ideas designed to convince us
Man-made philosophies far from innocent
Confidence in reason, science and power
And he who kills the most is the man of the hour
Oh so long so very very long ago
But still these ghosts live on
Set in stone, mounted on pedestals
Staring down at us, the ones who survived

Chorus 2
Surrounded by sea they saw only the gold,
And they made sure that only their half of the story was told
Spread their own psychopathic mania
Found a whole world, said ‘nothing is here’

Oh so tired so very very tired
But I won’t give up we’ve come so far
If you see a truth you’ve got a duty
A life of honesty is a thing of beauty
Zero, the vacuum the void th’ abyss,
Ideas of minds that look and see nothingness
All of life’s web is singing out
All they can hear are their own commands…

I want nothing to do with any of this I do not consent
I want nothing to do with any of this I do not consent
I want nothing to do with any of this I do not consent
But we’ve got to live
And we’ve got to love
In this world

It’s still our world, and life still lives us... (repeat til satisfied)
