Grace 03:16
I couldn’t even touch the place you come from I couldn’t even think the pain you had Some people get it easy all their lives Some people just don’t think it gets so bad But you, you keep on smiling like you mean it The people that you meet you touch with love You’re a dead man dancing in the daylight And if there really is a god above May He or She receive your prayers Heaven only knows you’ve got your place Some people never leave their ivory towers To walk across the desert that you faced So here’s a toast to you and your golden spirit Some people never know the power they’ve got May you begin each day just like you mean it Some people never get the Grace you’ve got And may you keep on smiling like you mean it May people that you meet touch you with love You’re a dead man dancing in the daylight And if there really is a god above May He or She receive your prayers Heaven only knows you’ve got your place Some people never leave their ivory towers To walk across the desert that you faced

Return 04:28
Tired of all my worldly goods I gave them all away Knowing the wheels keep on turning I set out on my travels to see what I had to say Feeling the fires were burning And I return, I lie fallow I return, I lie fallow I didn’t have a home so I took you into my heart Knowing that souls keep on growing I loved you and I let you go, you went without a word And I’m hoping your eyes are still smiling And I return, I lie fallow I return, I lie fallow Tired of all my worldly goods I gave them all away Feeling the fires were burning I loved you and I let you go, you went without a word And I’m hoping your eyes are still smiling And I return, I lie fallow I return, I lie fallow

Elston Gunn 02:53
[chorus] Elston Gunn, Elston Gunn, Do you realise What you done? Elston Gunn, Elston Gunn The whole damn ride has just begun To you the world is black and white Don’t know what’s wrong but you know what’s right Do you remember her eyes that night? They were full of a strange kind of light Get in your car and drive all day Through the fields and hills and trees Find your way as you make your way There’s no path except made by walking Take your time, it’s all you’ve got Even blind alleys can lead somewhere The night is dark but the moon is bright And anywhere you go is right

After 28 years I sold a song to a pedlar of rhyme and story. He said he was travelling through this town on a never-ending search for glory. I said “you’re a fool if you think you’ll find it here All these stones have been turned”, but he ignored me. He looked at the girl with the tangled hair and said everyone here’s got a story. Well I followed the man as he wandered the town, I really couldn't see what he was seeing. My heart it was jaded, my vision was faded, on my head was a joker’s crown. He said “open your eyes, let in the light, all that starlight and moonbeams and crazy rainbows.” I squinted and frowned and scratched my chin, all I could see was the sad ghosts of men. But I wanted to trust what the song man said, so I kept my mind open maybe he wasn't jokin'. Until I met you I could have passed for dead, but your beautiful love broke me open. So sing me your song, rhyme me your rhyme, there is hope in the darkest of places. And time after time after time after time I believe, I believe, I believe. Now I'm selling my stories, poems and songs like I've got some truth that needs saying. And maybe my words are just beautiful lies, but ain't I a man that’s living. I'm living, dancing and finding my way through the alleys and the back roads of Hades. But misery has to fly away from the wonder of everyday stories. Yeah, misery, she fly away from the wonder of everyday stories.

Tsunami of Love, Tsunami of Love I want to be swept away by a Tsunami of Love I want to wake up in a nation, that’s coming to the realisation There’s no space between us all, the planet we call home is very small Yes I know you’ll call me a dreamer, I wish I was a powerful schemer I know you’ll say I'm a little naïve, but that won’t stop me ‘cos I want to believe In that… Tsunami of Love, Tsunami of Love I want to be swept away by a Tsunami of Love The water’s bitter, the water’s cold, don’t let it get into your soul We’re being swamped in our daily lives, empty promises and glamorous lies I don’t think we can have it all like they want us to believe in the shopping mall I don’t wanna think, when I put on my shoes, that someone’s starving so that I can look cool… Tsunami of Love, Tsunami of Love I want to be swept away by a Tsunami of Love When it comes you can’t deny, there’s no time to wonder why, It may leave you high ‘n’ dry, there’s only the land, the sea, the sky, The only good that can come of this, is what love can accomplish When we face our fate and help one another when we realise that we need each other… Tsunami of Love, Tsunami of Love I want to be swept away by a Tsunami of Love Goodly people around the world, you see my foolish flag unfurled Come together, united nations, somewhere down the line we’re all relations I know I'm crazy, I must be mad, to think that all this fussin' and fightin' is bad Peace and harmony may just be a dream but there’s something swelling my little stream… Tsunami of Love, Tsunami of Love I want to be swept away by a Tsunami of Love

about

Grace is dedicated to Pat and all refugees from violence. Return is for all of us who lie fallow every so often. Elston Gunn is for Bob Dylan, but not only. Everyday Stories is about wonderment. Tsunami of Love is about making the connections. (And the bonus track ... well, it speaks for itself...)
